West Lancashire schools to benefit from new emotional wellbeing initiative
18th December 2019
The initiative will see the introduction of emotional wellbeing activity cards and accompanying training into every school and every classroom in West Lancashire, at no cost to schools.
The Mental Health Commissioning Group, who have introduced this idea, have been in discussion with The Yogi Group, who are a small Lancashire based company (all ex-teachers) who have produced the activity cards around the following areas:
- Emotional wellbeing
- Breathing techniques
- Mindfulness
- Resilience activities
- Yoga poses
The hope is that these activities can be embedded into each school’s daily routine and give children the tools they can use when they are feeling troubled and struggling to understand their emotions. By taking a few minutes per day to undertake one of the card activities it may help schools develop a peaceful environment, ideal for learning and developing resilience in the future generation. Schools can expect to receive the cards and a training video by 18 December 2019.
The Yogi Group are planning to attend West Lancashire school cluster meetings so that they can tell you more about the service and answer any questions that you may have. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact Laura Mitchell at theyogigroup@gmail.com if you have any queries.
