Virtual tour of CAMHS at Whitegate Drive
21st August 2019
On 14 August, filming of a virtual tour of the building and the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) department took place at Whitegate Drive Health Centre in Blackpool, beginning with a bus journey to arrive at the location. This is a project driven by the young people from Entwined Minds at Blackpool CAMHS, which is co-produced by them and Healthy Young Minds, the Fylde Coast CCGs, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Blackpool Transport Services. The filming will produce a short video for use on websites and social media channels that provides a tour of the building for children and young people who are attending their CAMHS appointments and have told us they find the experience quite daunting. A second filming day is planned for 27 August to capture the rest of the footage needed to produce the short film.
The purpose of the film is to provide reassurance to children, young people and their families – a link to the film will be included in appointment letters so that it can be viewed prior to attending appointments. With this in place, transition into CAMHS, familiarity of the building and an understanding of the building will help to ease people’s minds when attending their first appointments.
Healthy Young Minds will be working with children and young people from other locations across Lancashire and South Cumbria to help them produce similar video tours soon.
