NHS works with Rock FM and high school pupils to develop mental health campaign

11th October 2022

NHS Lancashire and South Integrated Care Board (ICB) is working with Rock FM and a number of high schools across Lancashire to develop its latest mental health campaign.

Four workshops are being held throughout October and November with pupils from Haslingden High School in Haslingden, Our Lady’s Catholic College in Lancaster, St Mary’s Catholic Academy in Blackpool and Coal Clough Academy in Burnley.

The year 9 and 10 pupils will be supporting the ICB to develop a mental health campaign aimed specifically at children and young people.

The pupils will also be working with Rock FM to create a radio advert which will encourage young people to reach out if they’re having problems with their mental health.

Helen Parry, one of NHS Lancashire and South ICB’s suicide prevention leads, said: “Supporting young people to better look after their mental health and wellbeing is a priority for us.

“But in order to reach young people with our campaigns, we know we need to work with them to make sure we’re using language which they recognise and that we’re displaying it in places where they’ll see it.”

The radio adverts are due to go live on Rock FM this month and the ICB’s mental health campaign will be launched later in the year.
