Two New Primary Mental Health Workers in Fylde and Wyre

Joanne, who graduated from Lancaster University in 2012 with a BA Hons in Social Work, has worked for Fylde Coast Women’s Aid with domestic abuse victims before starting work as a Child Protection Social Worker across Fylde and Wyre. She will be based alongside her CAMHS practitioner colleagues at Whitegate Drive in Blackpool. 

Joanne said:
“My role as Primary Mental Health Worker is to provide training and consultation to schools, GPs and professionals working with children and young people to support their emotional health and wellbeing. The areas I cover are Garstang and Over Wyre, including Hambleton, Preesall, Pilling and Stalmine. I have a keen interest in attachment and hold a qualification in child psychology. I am delighted to have the opportunity to transfer my experiences and knowledge into the CAMHS arena.”

Lucy originally commenced her RGN training in 1989 at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. She qualified in March 1992 and since then has worked in the Cardiothoracic Unit at Victoria Hospital, been a Teaching Assistant, a School Nurse Specialist Practitioner and a Safeguarding Practitioner. She has also completed a DipHE in Nursing Studies and BA Hons in Social Work and Welfare Studies.

Lucy said:
"I commenced with LSCFT on 9 December 2019 as a PMHW and I will be working across the Fylde patch including St Annes, Lytham, Weeton, Kirkham, Wesham and Newton. My role will include offering consultations to schools and GPs with regards to Children and Young People’s mental health and wellbeing as well delivering training to the wider children’s workforce. I will also be offering support for families as well as short term support to children and young people. Having worked within the PMHW role previously is a great advantage to me at this time along with my knowledge and experience working in School Nursing, Safeguarding and CASHER which is an out of hours CAMHS team supporting children, young people and their families in crisis. I am thoroughly looking forward to the challenges 2020 holds for me!"
